Optimum Nutrition's Fish Oil - Product Review
|
DescriptionOptimum Nutrition's Fish Oil contains pure fish oil, high in biologically active omega 3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). EPA and DHA are precursors to beneficial prostaglandins that act as hormone-like regulatory compounds. Research suggests that fish oil omega 3s support wellness, improve mood, relieve rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and prevent chronic diseases. Omega 3s are considered essential fatty acids because the body can't make them from other substances and they must be supplied by the diet. Some experts believe that the western diet is deficient in omega 3 fatty acids. Therefore, fish oil supplementation can have important nutritional benefits. Research suggests that people with depression and rheumatoid arthritis have decreased levels of omega 3s. A study review, published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, found that fish oil omega 3s offer therapeutic benefits, including mood-stabilizing and antidepressant properties. "Deficits in omega-3 fatty acids have been identified as a contributing factor to mood disorders and offer a potential rational treatment approach," the study authors conclude. Omega-3 fatty acids can help treat and prevent arthritis by reducing inflammation and improving joint function. Researchers found that omega-3 rich foods or supplements can help reduce the number of tender joints and amount of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIS) prescribed for patients with arthritis. ProsOptimum Nutrition's Fish Oil contains a well-balanced combination of EPA and DHA. A natural protective coating helps prevent fishy aftertaste. Fish oil has helped me with my mild depression. My doctor recommended it because I didn't want to start taking anti-depresants unless there was no other option. After about a month I noticed that my mood had improved a great deal. Left a bad taste in my mouth. The fish oil capsules are great for getting that added boost during the day, but they leave a pretty foul taste in your mouth. Not good to kiss your significant other with. Other than that the product was great. Great way to get Omega 3s Written by Monique | View all my reviews Top 50 Reviewer Thursday, 06 May 2010 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Fish Oil caplets are the easiest way for me to take the oils. I have to have those Omega threes even though there is a smell to the bottles and sometimes the pills when you open them. It's a great way to raise your HDL and there are very few products, especially natural, that can do this. There are also fewer side effects like bloating or burping that I have experienced. I recommend this product. |

High quality

I've tried at least dozens of "fish oil" gel caps. This is by far one of the highest quality versions I've used. However, the dosage per gelcap is double that of Fisol's. So you're getting more bang for your buck.
Also, I can tell the high quality by the fact that the oils inside the gelcap are not clear and transparent like cheap fish oil, but is actually clouded and murkey, indicating that it hasn't been diluted or filtered.
Definately a REAL bargain. Even my skin and hair feel softer, younger and health.
