 Nature's Herbs Dandelion Root

Description

Nature's Herbs Dandelion Root features maximum strength dandelion root, packaged for uncompromised quality. Dandelion (Taraxacm officinale) is considered by many to be a troublesome weed. However, dandelion is more importantly known as a medicinal herb that has been used for centuries as a blood purifier and to treat liver, gall bladder, and kidney problems. Today, dandelion root is used as a beneficial tonic to help stimulate digestion, support liver and gall bladder health and prevent water retention (edema).

Dandelion root contains medicinally active constituents, sesquiterpene lactones, also known as "bitter principles". Dandelion root also contains potent phenolic acids and taraxocoside. Studies suggest that these constituents are responsible for dandelion's effects on the gastrointestinal (GI) system, liver and gallbladder. The bitter principles in the root help stimulate digestion, increase bile production in the gallbladder and bile flow from the liver.

Dandelion root is a natural plant diuretic. One study, published in Planta Medica, indicates that dandelion leaves have similar diuretic effects to the diuretic drug furosemide (Lasix®).
