Description
Ever wish you could get the benefits of an egg without consuming all that cholesterol and fat? Hey, maybe your just plain sick of eating eggs? Whatever your situation, you no longer need to give up on nature’s “egg-ceptional” food. Universal Nutrition’s 100% Egg, Fat Free Amino Supplement contains nearly 2 grams of egg white albumin per serving. You may now derive all the benefits of an egg without ever cracking a single shell!
Considered by many as the ulitmate amino supplement, Universal's exclusive, scientifically-balanced blend promotes faster recuperation from your training sessions, improved performance during exercise, and optimum muscle growth during recovery. And, with the inclusion of the branched chain amino acids L-leucine, L-valine, and L-isoleucine, your body is guaranteed to possess the right materials for building lean muscle mass – our body’s most important calorie burning material.
Pros
The first benefit with taking a supplement so replete, or rich, in amino acids, is that it promotes a positive nitrogen balance within the body.
Nitrogen retention, as is it also called, is considered a determining factor for whether your muscles grow, remain stagnant, or actually lose size. In theory, you should not only be able to preserve your hard earned muscle, but be primed to build more lean mass.
Second, on top of receiving nearly all the amino acids contained in eggs, you also gain the benefit of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). Branched-chain amino acids are composed of leucine, isoleucine and valine, three of 18 amino acids that make up a complete protein. BCAAs not only work to build lean muscle mass, they’ve also been shown in study to boose immune function, stimulate protein synthesis, and provide for muscle-sparing (anti-catabolic) effects…just to name a few.
Finally, Universal Nutrition is synonymous with quality. This product is no exception as each tablet provides 1700 milligrams of pharmaceutical grade pure egg white (albumin). Universal's exclusive blend of egg white protein has been shown to contain the highest protein efficiency and the purest concentration of superior peptide-bonded amino acids.
Cons
The first drawback with this supplement is the amount of pills that need to be taken to reach the daily recommended dosage.
At six to twleve pills daily, many consumers will find this supplement a hard pill to swallow – literally. The pills are quite large and the manufacturer recommends either breaking them in half or chewing them to ensure maximum absorption. From experience, we can tell you that many individuals who take nutritional supplements on an empty stomach do suffer from from temporary nausea. As for chewing the pills…well, will leave that personal experience up to you!
Additionally, Universal Nutrition’s 100% Egg Amino Supplements seems to be missing one of the most important nutrients found in the egg – Choline. Choline is considered an essential nutrient; being responsible for a multitude of critical functions throughout the body, notwithstanding brain function and health. One large egg provides 300 micrograms of choline, and also contains 315 milligrams of phosphatidylcholine. Universal’s Egg Amino Supplement = Zero.
Did you know?
The more amino acids you take will not be stored as muscle, as the supplement industry would have you believe, but will be stored as FAT!
Is it for you?
There is some controversy regarding the legitimacy of Amino Acid supplements in the average American’s diet.
Most scientists believe that we obtain sufficient amounts of amino acids from diet alone. However, persons who engage in regular rigorous activity (e.g. long distance runners and weight lifters) do in fact have a greater energy need than the sedentary individual and are not considered the “Average American.” As well, as we age our digestive processes become sluggish and ineffective. Thus, Universal Nutrition’s 100% Egg Amino Supplement should be reserved for extremely active individuals, or those looking to maximize their protein intake at a minimal cost, such as the elderly.
Dosage and Directions?
Recommended Use: As a dietary supplement, take 2-4 tablets on an empty stomach three times daily (6-12 tablets per day), or as directed by a healthcare professional. Best when taken on an empty stomach between meals and before and after training. Note: As with all high potency tablets, please break each tablet in half or chew. Take with plenty of water.
