Provillus - Product Review
|
DescriptionProvillus is a two-part hair care system of topical solution and oral supplements formulated to enhance the growth of hair. Provillus offers separate treatments for men and women. Provillus topical products feature Minoxidil to improve hair growth in male or female pattern baldness. It can help women's hair loss related to post-pregnancy and menopause. Provillus Topical Solution contains Minoxidil, also known as Rogaine®, an FDA-approved medication for hair loss treatment. Minoxidil is a vasodilator drug that may also slow hair loss and improve hair growth in male or female pattern baldness. However, it is not known how Minoxidil stimulates scalp hair regrowth. Provillus Topical Solution for Men contains 5% Minoxidil and Provillus Topical Solution for Women contains 2% Minoxidil. One of the causes of hair loss is believed to be due to the damaging effects of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) and the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. Provillus Supplement for Men contains saw palmetto and pumpkin seed extract (contains phytosterols) to block 5-alpha-reductase and stop the production of DHT. Eleuthero (Siberian ginseng) increases blood flow to the hair roots and inhibits hair loss. Provillus Supplement for Women contains horsetail silica and para-amino benzoic acid (PABA) to support hair health. ProsProvillus is available over the counter without prescription to treat male or female pattern baldness. Minoxidil 2% is the only hair loss drug for women approved by the FDA. Provillus has the following benefits:
ConsCertain people may experience GI (gastrointestinal) distress when taking saw palmetto and pumpkin seed. Some medications may interact with topical minoxidil. Rare side effects can occur such as chest pain, faintness or dizziness, fast or irregular heart beat, sudden weight gain, or swollen face, hands or feet.
People with uncontrolled high blood pressure should not use ginseng. Be aware that some drugs may interact with the nutrients in Provillus including but not limited to:

the provillus product attempts to use the same formulation for both men and women, while gender specific hair loss is caused by different factors. Provillus is a cheap knock-off of a more popular hair loss product, Procerin, which is recommended over Provillus.
