Optimum's ZMA

Description

Optimumís ZMA is a patented zinc, magnesium and B6 anabolic (muscle building) formula engineered by SNAC System, Inc. It features highly bioavailable forms of the minerals zinc monomethionine aspartate and magnesium aspartate, as well as vitamin B6. Research suggests that ZMA can promote anabolic hormone levels and muscle strength in trained athletes.

The minerals zinc and magnesium support testosterone production and promote sleep. The addition of vitamin B6 synergistically enhances zinc and magnesium absorption and utilization. Zinc and magnesium levels have been found to significantly decrease after athletes participate in regular intense exercise. This lowered level can negatively impact an athleteís muscle endurance and performance.

One study, presented at the 46th Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine in Seattle, WA, suggests that ZMA supplementation can increase testosterone levels and muscle strength in trained athletes. A group of NCAA football players who took ZMA nightly during an eight-week spring training program had 2.5 times greater muscle strength gains than a placebo group. The ZMA group also had a 30% increase in testosterone levels compared to a 10% decrease in the placebo group.
