Nature’s Herbs Psyllium Husk - Product Review
|
DescriptionNature's Herbs Psyllium Husk is a mild bulking agent that is high in fiber and mucilage. Psyllium husk (Plantago ovata) is a natural plant fiber traditionally used for centuries to treat constipation. Commonly found in over-the-counter laxative products, psyllium is used to improve stool consistency and promote regularity in people with constipation and hemorrhoids. Psyllium has also been used as a remedy for other GI (gastrointestinal) problems including diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and ulcerative colitis. A high-fiber diet including the use of natural plant fibers such as psyllium husk is an effective treatment and prevention of constipation and hemorrhoids. Studies suggest that psyllium can treat chronic diarrhea by slowing the digestive process and promoting an increase in stool thickness. Similarly, psyllium can reduce the symptoms of IBS and ulcerative colitis. Studies suggest that psyllium fiber can help lower high cholesterol levels and improve blood sugar levels in diabetics. One study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that psyllium husk lowered high blood glucose levels following a meal in patients with type 2 diabetes. Another study, published in Hypertension, reports that psyllium helped reduce systolic blood pressure by about 8 points and diastolic by about 2 points in participants with high blood pressure. ProsNature's Herbs Psyllium Husk features 2,240 mg of psyllium husk per serving. While this product did cause some slight gas issues they did not last long. This product helped with my irregularity when used with plenty of water throughout the day.
