 MRM L-Carnitine Liquid

Description

MRM now offers the naturally occurring amino acid, L-carnitine, in an advanced liquid delivery system for optimal absorption. L-carnitine is produced in the body from the essential amino acids methionine and lysine. It is also found in animal products (especially red meats). L-carnitine enhances cellular energy production by using fat as energy. It transports fatty acids into the cell's mitochondria (the cell's energy powerhouse). The mitochondria converts energy from food molecules (such as fats) into ATP energy for cell functions.

By enabling a greater transport of fat into the cell's mitochondria, L-carnitine increases fat metabolism, breakdown and energy. This increased use of fat as energy can preserve muscle glycogen (stored energy) and decrease muscle fatigue. Some studies show that L-carnitine supplementation can enhance athletic performance, especially intense exercise activities.

Other studies suggest that L-carnitine supports heart and kidney health. L-carnitine may increase the heart's energy supply and promote cardiac performance. It can also prevent carnitine deficiency in patients with kidney disease on dialysis. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of L-carnitine, under the drug name Carnitor, for carnitine deficiency prevention and therapy.

Although L-carnitine is made in the body, it can be considered a conditionally essential nutrient if demand for it exceeds the body's ability to produce it.

People who may have low levels of L-carnitine include vegans/vegetarians, breast-feeding women, premature infants, those on hemodialysis, and injury and burn victims. Other reasons for low levels of carnitine include a genetically based carnitine defect, decreased levels of the essential amino acids methionine and lysine, depression and advancing age.

Taking a carnitine supplement such as MRM's L-Carnitine Liquid can enhance energy production from fat, support heart health and promote physical performance.

Pros

MRM's advanced liquid delivery system offers optimal absorption and uncompromised quality. It provides an effective, economical way to benefit from a maximum daily dose of L-Carnitine.

L-carnitine's multi-functional uses include:

  • Enhances energy production from fat
  • Promotes physical performance
  • Supports heart health
  • Prevents deficiency in patients with kidney disease on dialysis

Cons

Taking L-carnitine has been shown to be safe. Although side effects are uncommon, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, body odor and stomach upset have been reported.

The "D" form of carnitine must not be taken as it can create an L-carnitine deficiency in muscle and interfere with L-carnitine and acetyl-l-carnitine function. D-carnitine supplements have been banned in the United States due to this toxicity.

People with hypothyroidism, seizures and high triglyceride levels should not supplement with L-carnitine without consulting a physician.

Be aware that some drugs may interact with L-carnitine including:

  • Allopurinol
  • Anticonvulsants
  • AZT
  • Chemotherapy
  • Doxorubicin
  • Gabapentin
  • Phenobarbitol
  • Valproic Acid

Is it for you?

MRM's L-Carnitine Liquid can be useful for athletes and exercise enthusiasts wanting to enhance their physical performance and replenish their muscle's energy stores. If you want to support your heart health or if you're a vegan or vegetarian, L-carnitine may be for you. Individuals at high risk for carnitine deficiency (as described above) would also benefit from L-Carnitine Liquid. However, people with hypothyroidism, seizures and high triglyceride levels should not supplement with L-carnitine without consulting a physician.
