Description
CytoSport’s Muscle Milk Light has the same performance and taste as the original Muscle Milk, but with significantly less fat and calories. This lower calorie protein powder delivers muscle-building Evo-Pro custom protein matrix, Lean Lipids complex (MCTs and L-carnitine), GCC creatine precursors (glycocyamine, betaine anhydrous) and CytoVite 1 essential vitamins and minerals. Muscle Milk Light is designed for athletes who want to maximize lean muscle gains while reducing caloric intake to support weight management and weight loss.
Muscle Milk Light’s Evo-Pro matrix contains whey, micellar caseins, taurine and glutamine to stimulate muscle growth and recovery. Whey and casein proteins are found in milk and contain an optimal concentration of amino acids that promote positive nitrogen retention (stored muscle protein). Casein protein is a slow digesting protein that provides a steady release of amino acids for up to 7 hours. The amino acid taurine helps maintain blood sugar levels, to optimize muscle energy. The conditionally essential amino acid glutamine helps prevent muscle tissue breakdown and supports muscle repair.
The “lean fats” used in Muscle Milk Light include MCT lipids (fat molecules)
composed of medium-chain fatty acids. These unique lipids are more easily
digested by the body than larger fat molecules and more likely burned for muscle energy than stored as fat. L-carnitine is a natural compound that helps preserve muscle glycogen (stored energy) and decrease muscle fatigue. The creatine precursors glycocyamine and betaine anhydrous help the body produce more creatine on its own. Creatine is used in muscle for the production of ATP (adenosine triphospate) the source of energy the body runs on and enhances muscle energy, strength and performance.
Pros
Muscle Milk Light has the same great taste and performance as the original Muscle Milk, but with 44% fewer calories and 1/3 the fat. Muscle Milk Light RTD contains no trans fatty acids or lactose and 25 grams of protein. Over 50% of calories are derived from energy sustaining, lean muscle supporting, high quality protein.
Muscle Milk Light has the following benefits:
- Lower calorie and fat formula supports weight loss
- 25 grams of protein stimulate muscle growth
- Glutamine and taurine promote muscle energy and recovery
- L-carnitine, MCTs and creatine precursors enhance muscle energy, strength and performance.
Cons
Muscle Milk Light contains 25 grams of protein per serving, as compared to the original Muscle Milk formula that contains 32 grams of protein.
Individuals who are allergic to dairy products should avoid taking whey protein.
Ingesting MCTs on an empty stomach can cause GI (gastrointestinal) upset.
Taking L-carnitine has been shown to be safe. Although side effects are uncommon, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, body odor and stomach upset have been reported.
People with pre-existing medical conditions or taking medication should not supplement with Muscle Milk Light without consulting a physician.
