 Amoryn

Description

Amoryn is a natural anti-depressant designed to restore emotional vitality. The proprietary blend of clinically evaluated nutrients include hyperforin (S. John's wort flavonoid), 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan), rhodiola rosea, B vitamins, selenium, vitamin D3, zinc and vitamin C. Amoryn has been formulated to improve mood, relieve depression and lessen anxiety.

St. John's Wort contains medicinally active flavonoids, hypericin and hyperforin. Amoryn contains standardized 0,3% hyperforin, clinically shown to increase levels of the "feel good" neurotransmitters serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain. The neurotransmitter 5-HTP is a precursor to serotonin and melatonin. Clinical studies report that it may be effective in treating insomnia and anxiety.

The herbal adaptogen rhodiola rosea helps reduce stress and fatigue and aids in transporting neurotransmitter nutrients to the brain. B vitamins (including B6, B12 and folate) are essential for the proper functioning of the brain and the neurotransmitters acetylcholine and serotonin. Selenium, vitamin D3, zinc and vitamin C deficiencies are associated with depression and anxiety.

Pros

Amoryn contains only standardized herbal extracts and USP Pharmaceutical Grade vitamins to ensure purity.

Amoryn has the following benefits:

  • Features standardized 0.3% hyperforin
  • Relieves depression
  • Restores emotional vitality
  • Lessens anxiety

Cons

Certain people may experience abdominal discomfort, fatigue, skin rash and phototoxicity (skin sensitivity to sunlight) while taking St. John's Wort. Therefore, those with fair skin should avoid heavy exposure to the sun while taking St. John's Wort.

Certain people may experience nausea or headache when taking 5-hydroxy tryptophan.
At this time, there is no firm evidence linking 5-HTP with the 1989 L-tryptophan controversy. During manufacture in Japan, a contaminated strain of bacteria was used to synthesize L-tryptophan, causing illness and death. L-tryptophan was subsequently banned in the US then partially lifted, allowing only physicians to prescribe L-tryptophan.

Side effects reported with vitamin B12 include mild diarrhea, anxiety, heart palpitations, insomnia, breathing problems, chest pain, skin rash and allergic reactions to B12 injections.

Pregnant or lactating women, people with pre-existing medical conditions or those taking medications should consult a physician before taking Amoryn.
